CMEGP Chief Minister Employment Generation Program (CMEGP)
A) Scheme:-
- Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Program Scheme for the state's comprehensive and self-employment promotion for the aspiring youth/young women of the state. It has been announced by the Government vide GR dated August 1, 2019.
- The scheme is implemented by the District Industries Centre (DIC) & Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) at the district level with oversight and monitoring by the Industries Department under the direct supervision of the Development Commissioner (Industries).
- A user friendly dedicated portal maha-cmegp.gov.in has been developed for the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Program.
- The target have been distributed to a total of 15 public sector banks and 11 private sector banks and Saraswat Cooperative Bank Ltd. with the approval of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC). The scheduled cooperative banks have been included in the list of eligible banks under the scheme from the 2020-21.
- Manufacturing industries, agribusiness industries and service industries are eligible for benefits under the project scheme.
- For projects in manufacturing sectors the project limit is Rs. 50 lakhs and for service sector and agro-based/primary agro processing industry projects the project cost limit is Rs. 20 lakhs.
- The state government offers financial assistance ranging from 15% to 35% as a Backend Subsidy. Beneficiaries are required to invest 5% to 10% of their own funds, while the remaining 60% to 80% is covered through a bank loan, depending on the general or special category classification.
B) Eligibility criteria under the scheme: –
- Educational qualification required for projects above Rs. 20 Lakhs is minimum 7th pass and for projects above 25 Lakhs is minimum 10th pass.
- The applicant should be between 18 and 45 years of age.
- The age criteria are relaxed by up to 5 years for women, scheduled castes, ex-servicemen, and disabled individuals.
- The applicant should be a domicile of Maharashtra state.
- Only one person in a family can avail benefit under the program. Family shall be defined as husband and wife.
- The applicant should not have availed the benefit of Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) or any similar self-employment scheme based on subsidy from the Central Government or any other department/corporation of the State Government.
Target for the year 2024-25
- A target of sanctioning of 25000 cases has been given to the implementing agencies.
